About us

The next generation of connection and support for local people, communities and business.

BDCU The Collective Impact.

The Berrima District Credit Union (BDCU) was established in 1963 by a group of co-workers at Southern Portland Cement. In a spare room of the cements works they pooled their resources and established a savings and loan fund. This was a response to a social need of the time – the need for easier access to low value loans. Members of a community came together to help members of their community.

The communities we serve have grown exponentially since those early days, as have the needs of our community and the environment within which we operate. However our purpose has not changed, nor our value to our community.

As a locally owned mutual business, BDCU now has 10,000 members.

BDCU The Collective Impact is an economic and social driver that builds on BDCU’s rich tradition of identifying and supporting the needs of local business, our communities, and in doing so helps to create economic and social impact across the Highlands and Tablelands.

Our most significant social impact is generated by the operation of Community Bank BDCU through our wholly owned subsidiary BDCU Financial Services Pty Limited.

Through a franchise agreement with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Community Bank BDCU supports over $600 million in loans and deposits, and provide a sustainable, purpose driven banking opportunity for regional NSW communities.

BDCU The Collective Impact also contributes to the economic and social growth of our regions through our member hub, business spaces and social impact programs.

As the needs of our communities evolve, BDCU The Collective Impact will be there; championing the creation of local opportunity and choice for our members.

About BDCU
Our motivation for BDCU The Collective Impact is simple.

A driver to:

  • Nurture an ecosystem that encourages innovation, growth and an improved future for our region.

  • Foster a network that generates local participation and connection for the benefit of our region.

  • Create a community that provides a place for our 'neighbours' to live, work and play

  • Build a positive culture of collaboration and service.

  • Create the greatest social impact investment in areas of employment, accomodation and health and wellbeing.

BDCU turned 60 on the 19 September 2023. To celebrate we created a video from staff past and present sharing what BDCU means to them.
