Ward Progress on Target

Construction of Bowral and District Hospital’s new children’s ward is progressing on schedule.

BDCU Children’s Foundation spokesman Ross Stone and Co-President Jennifer Grey recently visited the ward to see how work was progressing.

"It is very pleasing to see the space that has been created and that the Foundation and community’s efforts are being rewarded," Mr Stone said.

"This is a great result for our community who have been so supportive of the efforts to ensure that children and their families have access to a facility that reflects today’s needs with modern equipment and a functional space," he said.

Denis Thomas, General Manager Bowral and District Hospital said the refurbished children’s ward is due for completion later this year.

"Staff are excited that the refurbishment of the children’s ward is now underway," Mr Thomas said.

"Once the demolition of internal structures is complete, the ward will be laid out and built anew within the external walls.

"The refurbished children’s ward will be great for the kids, but there will also be some nice designated areas for parents. Parents will be able to stay close to their children with the additional comfort of a lounge, beverage facilities, toilet and shower amenities.

"We’d like to thank Sydney South West Area Health Service for its commitment to making the Hospital the best it can be. These upgrades will allow us to continue to provide a high quality service to the local community.

"We’d also like to thank the BDCU Children’s Foundation and local community for their support. We know that everyone will be really proud of the refurbished ward," he said.
