Movie Under the Stars(28 February 2011)
BDCU Goulburn Hospital Fundraising Inc hosted a gourmet dinner and screening of the Meryl Streep film, Julie & Julia, on Saturday 26 February 2011 at Kingsdale Winery in Goulburn.
The film is based on the life of famous celebrity cook, Julia Childs, and her life in 1940s Paris. In a parallel plot, a young New York writer in the present-day attempts to copy Julia's recipes and blogs about her unpredictable results.
Almost 200 people enjoyed what can only be described as a stunning experience in a magical setting overlooking a vast 'lake' of water, rolling countryside and grape vines.
Movie-goers brought along chairs and rugs and enjoyed a gourmet three-course pizza meal and wine in the fading twilight. The big screen was set up with a backdrop of vines. The event raised money for Goulburn Hospital equipment needs.
Thank you to all who attended and shared such a great night. Thank you also to the organisers and our staff from Goulburn BDCU for all of your assistance.

Master Chef Challenge for Biggest Morning TeaStaff at BDCU had a hilarious calorie-laden morning on Thursday 27th May as part of the national Biggest Morning Tea event to aid cancer research funding. The winner was Glenn for his delicate pastry squares filled with cream and raspberry jam. Controversy was sparked, however, when suspicions were raised as to the veracity of his claim to be the cook and not his talented wife. Nonetheless, the judges decision was final and no corresponmdence was entered into and Glenn was bestowed the tailor-made special winner's apron, the wooden spoon, and a beverage. Jan and Debbie also took green wooden spoons and chockies for the runner-up prizes. These were awarded for a very delicious chocolate cake with tiny pink and red love hearts impressed in the rich fudgy icing, and a vegetarian savoury nachos, which was a big hit for the unsweet tooths. |

Sweet Start Sixties BBQTo celebrate the lowest interest rates since 1964 and the new Sweet Start special loan for first home buyers, staff at Moss Vale Advice Centre stopped traffic with their 60s themed barbecue and lemonade stall. The group were out of snags by 1pm and tickled many with memorabilia and dress of the 60s.
Staff are enjoying getting daggy on Fridays and having a laugh at themselves. All food was gold coin donation, with proceeds straight into the account of the BDCU Childrens Foundation. Sweet Start Home Loan has been extended due to the Australian Government's extension to the Fisrt Home Owners' Boost. Coupled with a low fixed interest rate for a year, the loan is proving very popular with local first home buyers. |
